Mary Ellen Paravalos, Vice President, Transmission, Regulation and Commercial, National Grid USA
Mary Ellen Paravalos is currently Vice President, Transmission Regulation and Commercial, at National Grid. Her responsibilities include federal and state regulation and RTO/ISO participation, commercial arrangements, and compliance management for the US transmission business.
Ms. Paravalos has previously served as Corporate Strategy Manager at National Grid’s headquarters in London, United Kingdom. Other previous roles include Director of Regulatory Policy, and roles in tariff development, generator interconnection, and transmission system planning and engineering.
She has represented National Grid on numerous industry committees and has presented at seminars on reliability, transmission, and electricity markets. She has served on the North American Energy Standard Board (NAESB) Executive Committee. Ms. Paravalos has previously served as NEPOOL Vice-Chair representing transmission owners in New England, and Chair of the New England Transmission Owners Committee.
Ms. Paravalos holds a Masters of Science in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. She is a registered professional engineer in the State of Massachusetts.
