Massachusetts State Senator Michael W. Morrissey
Michael W. Morrissey is currently the State Senator of the Norfolk and Plymouth District, representing the towns of Abington, Braintree (precincts 2, 6-12), Holbrook, and Rockland as well as the City of Quincy. He has served as Senator since 1993. Prior to being elected to the Senate he spent 16 years as a State Representative (1977-1992). He is currently the Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, as well as the Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Telecommunication, Utilities and Energy. In addition, he serves on the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, the Joint Committees on Election Laws and Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, and the Senate Committee on Post Audit and Oversight. Senator Morrissey has been an active member of the Massachusetts Legislature for 29 years, having served previously on such Committees as: Public Service, Banks and Banking, Judiciary, Steering and Policy, Rules, Public Safety, Transportation, Natural Resources and Agriculture, Redistricting, and Health Care.
He is a resident of the City of Quincy where he lives with his wife, Joanne, and their two children. He is a founding partner of the law firm of Boyle, Morrissey, and Campo, P.C. He did undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (Class of 1976) and received a Masters in Public Administration from Western New England College (Class of 1981). He also received a Law degree from Suffolk Law School in 1985 and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in that same year. Senator Morrissey is involved in the community where he resides and is a member of numerous civic and recreational associations throughout his district and the Commonwealth.
