  Rae McQuade, President, North American Energy Standards Board

Rae McQuade is the President for the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) and held the Executive Director position for its predecessor, the Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB) formed in September 1994.

Rae actively worked on and led a two-year industry-wide effort to form GISB in 1991 - 1993. She coordinated the initial effort to develop the proposal and the industry meetings for the formation of GISB under the guidance of the Natural Gas Council. Rae worked with government agencies and industry associations in formulating positions on the infrastructure issues of GISB. In March 2000, Rae was awarded the Appreciation Service Award by Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson for her work in creating a successful energy standards organization. GISB transitioned to NAESB in 2002, broadening its scope to address electricity market standards. Rae coordinated this three-year transition with the trade associations, government agencies and participants in the wholesale and retail gas and electric North American markets.

Prior to her leadership activities at GISB and NAESB, Rae in worked in the energy and petrochemical fields. From 1980 to 1994, Rae was with Tenneco Gas and held various management positions. While at Tenneco Gas, she held various committee leadership positions in industry trade associations, including chair of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of the America Business Information Committee and the chair of the Natural Gas Review Committee of the Natural Gas Council. From 1978 to 1980 she was with Mobil Oil; and from 1977-1978, she was with ICI. While attending university, she was part of a special program at NASA from 1973-1977, in pre-flight, flight and post-flight biomedical analysis.

Rae received two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and in Mathematics from the University of Texas in 1977 and attended the University of Houston for graduate studies in energy economics from 1979-1981.
