  Bruce L. Levy, President of the North American region and Executive Director, International Power

Bruce L. Levy is a business leader with three decades of experience in the U.S and international energy sector. In his current role, Mr. Levy is responsible for all aspects of the company's performance including plant operations, finance, energy trading and new business development.

In addition, Mr. Levy serves as part of International Power's executive management team participating in key decisions regarding 30,000 Mw of generation assets operated throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

Mr. Levy also serves as Chair of the Electric Power Supply Association, the national association of competitive power suppliers. He has always been active and held key roles in industry trade associations shaping the development and implementation of industry policy on a state and federal level.

Prior to joining International Power, Mr. Levy was a member of the senior management team of GPU, Inc a diversified energy production and distribution corporation. As Chief Financial Officer of GPU, Inc, he was responsible for all financial operations of the company as well as establishing the risk management function to oversee the corporation's energy trading operations, establishing a company-wide strategy planning function, and leading the company's expansion into the contracting and telecom businesses.

As president of GPU International he led the start-up and growth of all non-regulated businesses within GPU. The businesses he built through development, acquisition and joint venturing grew from 0 to over 20% of GPU net income within 4 years. During this time Mr. Levy expanded GPU operations into non-regulated power generation in the U.S., international power generation and distribution and retail energy services.

Mr. Levy led all of GPU's acquisition; divestiture and joint venture negotiations and directed the negotiations which resulted in the 2001 merger between GPU and FirstEnergy. He has varied experience in financing and has structured and negotiated facilities for over $4 billion of acquisition, project and asset backed financing. He has also participated in planning and the implementation of utility deregulation programs at the state and federal level.

Mr. Levy has a Mechanical Engineering degree from City College of New York and an MBA in Finance from New York University. He is a licensed professional engineer. He is chairman of the Finance Committee and member of the Board of Trustees of the Liberty Science Center.
